Vital Proteins Collagen Bars Review – My Final Thoughts
- No hydrogenated fats or high fructose corn syrup allowed in any food
- No bleached or bromated flour
However, because our natural collagen production declines as we age, we must rely on dietary and supplementary collagen sources to meet our needs.
Each Collagen Bar includes 12g of collagen, 16-17 grams of protein, 6-8g of fibre, and 4g sugar or less, making it a bar worth biting into, owing to its healthier nutritional composition. With six flavours to choose from, you're sure to find your new favourite snack in no time.
Many supplements are so disgusting; you can’t even stomach the idea of eating them. However, these bars are great to eat as a meal supplement or a snack!

How to use it
There is no appropriate time to eat a collagen supplement or collagen bar. I’ve discovered that consistency is essential for collagen, so whichever you can best include into your daily routine will be the best for you. I take it two times-
- WITH BREAKFAST – I’m a fan of quick and uncomplicated breakfasts, especially during workdays. I’ve been breaking my fast a lot recently with these bars. I keep some in my tote bag and eat them on my way home from the gym.
- AFTERNOON SNACK – I enjoy the chocolaty collagen bars as an afternoon snack or, to be honest, I’ll take a few bits after dinner if I’m seeking something sweet.
Flavours
These bars are tasty and chewy but not overly sugary. You can genuinely taste each one’s inherent tastes. The chocolate ones have a candy bar flavour, while the fruity ones are genuine, fresh fruit.
SEA SALT CHOCOLATE ALMOND
You can pair it with a Trader Joe’s dark chocolate caramel. These bars will genuinely satisfy your chocolate candy bar cravings. They also have a touch of sea salt in them!
LEMON VANILLA
It has a fresh flavour and tastes like a lemon poppyseed muffin. But, it’s not too sweet.
CHOCOLATE WITH MINT
This flavour will remind you of Scout thin mint cookies. It starts with a refreshing mint flavour and then transitions into a decadent chocolate flavour.
LEMON RASPBERRY
It has a fresh fruit flavour, and if you enjoy both fruit and lemon, this will be your favourite! It’s similar to a lemon fruit cake.
PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE
It is the one for you if you enjoy peanut butter.
MIXED BERRY
It’s incredible how fruity a bar can indeed be. It’s similar to a fruit roll-up in a bar form.

"This tastes like lemon cake, so bomb! It's a chewy texture and not dry at all, which I love!
All of the collagen bars are FANTASTIC! I put a scoop into my protein shake and milk too. The only thing I don’t like about them is that they’re expensive and hard to find in some areas, so I’ll be substituting the Triscuit chocolate chip ones.”
"The best snack before or after a workout. I mix it with my Nutri-grain protein shakes.
Final verdict
- No hydrogenated fats or high fructose corn syrup allowed in any food
- No bleached or bromated flour
In short, collagen bars are a nutritional powerhouse and should be in your daily diet.
These bars are much more convenient than collagen supplements, and they're great for busy people or people who have trouble swallowing tablets.
Some people have found it chewy and hard to digest. Many got a sour aftertaste as well. I’d suggest that you try a collagen bar out of your curiosity and then decide if it’s right for you.
It is by no means a 100% perfect product, but it comes pretty close.
